He is an Indian film Actor/Playback singer/Philanthropy works in the Hindi film industry. 

Bachchan made his film debut in 1969 as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen's film 'Bhuvan Shome'. His first acting role was as one of the seven protagonists in the film Saat Hindustani directed by Khwaja Ahmed Abbas and followed Anand. Bachchan starred alongside Rajesh Khanna in Anand film released in 1971. 

Originally (Amitabh Harivansh Bachchan) he is known as 'Inquilaab' later changed his name by poet Sumitranandan pant and his father Harivansh rai to Amitabh (means the light that will never die).

Amitabh's Surname was 'Shrivastava', his father had adopted the pen name Bachchan (child like). under which he published all of his poet works.

His Fans call him as 'BIG B' it means 'BIG BoSS'.
He was named 'Hottest Vegetarian' by PETA India in 2012 and won the title of Asia's Sexiest Vegetarian in a contest poll run by PETA Asia.

Bachchan made his Hollywood debut in 2013 with The Great Gatsby in which he played a non-indina Jewish character, Meyer Wolfsheim.
